Celebrate the 4th of July in a community that feels like home

Where to celebrate the 4th of July near your new home in Indiana

America is turning 250 this year, and communities across Indiana are marking the milestone in a big way. Whether you live in Northwest Indiana or the Indianapolis area, there is no shortage of parades, fireworks, live music, and family-friendly fun happening right in your backyard.

If you have been thinking about what it would feel like to celebrate the Fourth of July in a community you truly call home, this is a good weekend to find out. Here is your guide to 4th of July events near every Olthof Homes community.

Northwest Indiana

Lake County, Indiana
Crown Point
Crown Point does Independence Day the right way, and 2026 is going to be especially memorable as the city celebrates America's 250th birthday.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. on July 4 on Main Street at Crown Point High School and ends at the Tank on Goldsborough Street. It is a community tradition that draws neighbors, local businesses, and families from across the region.
Fireworks follow at dusk, approximately 9 p.m., at the Lake County Fairgrounds at 889 S. Court Street. Bring a blanket, find a spot on the lawn, and settle in for the show.

Schererville
Schererville's Fireworks Festival takes place at Rohrman Park on June 27, 2026. If you want to kick off the patriotic season a little early with your neighbors, this is a great way to do it.
Keep an eye on the town's official page for any additional July 4th programming closer to the date.

Cedar Lake
Cedar Lake Summerfest happens every 4th of July weekend on the shores of Cedar Lake. This multi-day festival includes fun contests for all ages, carnival rides, food vendors, live entertainment, fireworks, and the entertaining cardboard boat race.
The Cedar Lake Summerfest runs July 2 through July 5, 2026, with the parade on July 5 and a boat parade on July 6. It is one of the most beloved summer traditions in all of Northwest Indiana, and when you live here, it feels less like an event and more like a reunion.

St. John
The St. John Freedom Fest takes place on July 2, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fest is held at Heartland Park, 10600 White Oak Ave, with a fireworks show beginning at 9:30 p.m. Expect a beer garden, bouncy houses, food trucks, and live bands.
It is a fun, relaxed way to kick off the holiday weekend before the Fourth arrives.

More than a great weekend
The Fourth of July has a way of showing you what a neighborhood is really made of. When you are standing on a sidewalk watching a parade go by, or sitting in a park waiting for fireworks with families all around you, you get a feel for the kind of place it is. And that feeling matters when you are thinking about where to put down roots.

Olthof Homes has been building communities across Indiana since 1961. Every neighborhood we build is designed to be the kind of place you feel proud to live in, not just on the Fourth of July, but on every ordinary Tuesday that follows.

If you are ready to explore what home could look like this summer, we would love to show you around.
