Pentwater is destined to be Crown Point’s next landmark community. We had an amazing opportunity at Pentwater to preserve a piece of history. When we first walked the property, we ventured into the old barn. In speaking with the owners Harold and Marty Wheeler, we found that the barn had been used for a dairy operation and was the center of activity on the farm. We decided the barn needed to be brought back to the center of activity, which became the foundation for planning the community, and through restoration, has been transformed into the Harold Wheeler Community Center.

Restored to life, the Harold Wheeler Community Center is a place where residents can gather and socialize. In the same activity area, is the luxury Clubhouse equipped with clubrooms, fitness center, and pool! Throughout Pentwater, we were able to open up and extend views across lakes and parks. Our goal was to create several places for children and adults alike to interact.

Olthof Homes accomplished this with a series of parks and walking trails that meander along the lakefront and lead to the Community Center and Clubhouse area. At Pentwater, we were able to utilize the existing structures and create a community around them, which became our model for land planning practices.
