Unveiling a private paradise

As they begin to execute the plan that painstakingly details how to develop 66 spacious home sites among the existing mature trees and foliage that will remain an integral part of Schererville's Camden Woods, Olthof Homes anticipates putting the finishing touches on this secluded community for its grand opening in spring.

Located on 75th Street, just east of Cline Avenue, Camden Woods will feature a cobblestone-bordered natural lake with a private fishing pier, dramatic fountain and an adjacent park area featuring a picturesque gazebo, a wildlife preserve to be created using 42 species of native wildflowers plus a separate, densely wooded nature preserve area. The 66 single-family homes will be built on ample lots, with a variety of premium views and sizes available throughout the community. They will range in size from 2,100 to 3,100 square feet, with pre-construction values ranging from the $280,000s to the 400,000s.

"Camden Woods is more exclusive than some of our other single-family communities. There will be a fewer number of homes than something we usually develop,'' said Carmen Ware, Olthof Homes sales manager.

"Based on our research, there is a growing demand for private locations that still offer easy access to all of the wonderful amenities and charm of our hometowns. Camden Woods is amazingly secluded for being so close to all of the great things Schererville has to offer its residents.''

From Lake Central's award-winning school system to an abundance of nearby shopping and dining options, Schererville also boasts a bustling downtown area, thriving park program and an old-fashioned community spirit.

"Similar to our maintenance-free communities, Camden Woods' private atmosphere gives you that 'away at the cottage' mindset,'' she said. "Because the lot sizes do vary throughout the community, we have carefully plotted which of the five floor plans we offer here will work on each home site in conjunction with our extensive efforts to save as many trees as possible.''
As a result, some features, such as concrete driveways and basements. already have been included in the standard plans for the homes at Camden Woods, according to Ware. Additional standard features for the five available single-family homes include 9-foot ceilings, walk-in closets in the master bedrooms, utility/laundry tub in all floor plans with main-level laundry rooms in select plans, gas forced-air heating system, air conditioner, 40-gallon automatic gas-fired water heater, poured concrete foundation walls, vinyl siding, brick and stone exteriors, exterior electrical outlets, steel exterior doors, steel pre-finished garage door and 10-year residential warranty.

With their model homes nearing completion, Olthof Homes will be showcasing an extensive selection of the many luxury options available to homebuyers in each. Some of the Olthof Homes' luxury options offered at Camden Woods include sunrooms, a loft area on the second levels, fireplaces and master suites with whirlpool tubs and separate showers.

In addition to the luxuriously appointed model homes, which include the Providence, a 1-1/2 story home with 2,225 square feet of living space, 4 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths and a 2-car garage, and the Sumner, a 2-story with 2,400 square feet of living space, 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths and a 2-car garage; there is a 2,100-square-foot ranch plan called the Huntley, a 2,320-square-foot 2-story called the Manchester and a 3,000-square-foot 2-story called the Executive. All told, there are 22 possibilities of exterior looks that are monitored closely by Olthof to ensure variety on every block of the community.

"Single-family communities that have a variety of homes tend to be more desirable than those that are more 'cookie-cutter' in nature,'' Ware said. "The desirability factor plays a major role in maximizing the homeowner's investment, which is something that Olthof homeowner's appreciate.''

As with all Olthof Homes, in addition to the list of standard features for Camden Woods' single-family homes, buyers have the opportunity to select from a number of custom finishes inside and out. While many can be seen in the model homes, Olthof Home's Design Center puts them side-by-side for easy comparison. Single-family homes have the most available options.
"The new Olthof Homes Design Center is a state-of-the-art facility that gives our customers a wide variety of selections to tailor their home to fit their individual needs,'' Ware said. "While our models display a nice range of choices, there are even more at the design center. It really helps our customers to be able to see what all of the options look like. Plus, our Design Team is able to answer any questions regarding the products and provide professional guidance.''

Located on U.S. 41 in St. John, across from Lake Central High School, the Olthof Homes Design Center is open from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays for browsing, with additional hours by appointment.
